Hi
I spent a lot of Monday dealing with an eye issue.
The optician thought I had a small tear in my retina and sent me to the eye hospital.
The eye hospital thought it was a minor retinal haemorrhage and said I should just keep an eye on it (Ironic turn of phrase!) before returning for a check up in a week or two.
And so I’m just trying to get used to the floaters which they say may never go away – a big black spider that appears everywhere I look and a veil of dots and blurriness in one eye.
Not very handy for doing graphics!
But it is what it is and I’m still able to see and do my work which I’m grateful for.
The danger with something like this is that you can spend all your energy wondering why something had to happen to you, getting angry about what you can’t control, and thinking things should be different. But it’s pointless.
And not just when it comes to health issues.
We can get all bent out of shape thinking things like our families should support us. The economy shouldn’t be tanking. We should be earning a living by now from this online thing. Sales should be better. It shouldn’t be so hard to get that piece of software that was supposed to be so easy to work.
But things will be exactly as they are. And accepting reality makes the future so much brighter than when you fight it.
The only thing we can change is how we deal with stuff that comes our way. So if you have a challenge or six to contend with (and let’s face it, we all do!) forget the “why me?” questions and ask some “what now?” questions instead. 💖
