We talk a whole lot here about how important it is to focus on one thing.

But that principle is actually an oversimplification of what it takes to succeed.

Because, you may be glad to hear, there's nearly always a phase before focus when it's best not to focus at all. 🤣

That's the experimentation phase, when curiosity matters more than commitment. You’re looking around, trying things, following interesting threads and gathering evidence about what may be worth more of your time.

You haven’t chosen your one thing because you're still working out what deserves to become your one thing.

So don’t beat yourself up if you’re in this phase. Most entrepreneurs find their best ideas through experimentation, not by instantly knowing exactly what they should do.

The important part is recognizing when you've found something promising enough to move from experimenting to focusing. That is when you stop exploring every possibility and give one idea a proper chance to succeed.

And if you find it hard deciding on one thing, don't worry. It's not forever. You'll probably have several "one things" in your entrepreneurial career.

Experiment, choose, make bank until it's time to choose again. Repeat. 💖
