So what came up for me from yesterday’s experiment of giving my brain a task while I slept… was unexpected.
And not entirely welcome LOL
You see, I love to start new things, but my brain came up with “improve what you have” 😱
It suggested taking each piece of my business bit by bit and improving it, like the British Olympic cycling team.
I so wasn’t thinking of cycling when I went to sleep LOL
Just in case you don’t know the story, Britain’s cycling team went from dismal results pre 2003 (one manufacturer even refused to sell their equipment to the Brits in case their reputation damaged the brand!) to winning more gold medals than any other country at the Rio Olympics a few years later.
The difference was they took on a new performance director Dave Brailsford who believed in the philosophy of kaizen or continuous improvement through the aggregation of marginal gains. They experimented with a wind tunnel. They were precise about food preparation and nutrition. They brought their own mattresses and pillows so athletes had a good night’s rest. They did every single thing they could. Every gain was tiny but taken together, they made a huge difference.
Now I’m not going to worry about my pillow and mattress selection, but there are actually some major things I’m not doing that I could be.
⭐Like my totally neglected social media accounts.
⭐Like not doing video.
⭐Like not using the tools I invested in that will definitely make a difference.
When I wrote down what my brain came up with, it kinda made sense.
But I might have to sneak a new project in there for the excitement factor 🤣
And because I like having too much to do.
