So I took Alfie out for two hours today to stop him getting the way of the guy who does the weeding and cuts the grass.
And he was having such fun with his ball, dropping it in the stream and letting the current take it away then jumping after it through the water.
But then as he was trotting along the path with his ball, a squirrel shot through the undergrowth and up a nearby tree.
Before I knew it, Alfie was careering away after the little thing, though he must know that he wasn’t going to catch it up any trees. 🤣
No success with the squirrel (thank goodness) but once he lost interest in that, the ball was nowhere to be found.
Lost in the pursuit.
How many times a day do you go after some squirrel or other and drop the ball on what you’re doing. wasting time and losing momentum.
Plenty, if you’re like me.
Usually the ball is not lost, just delayed, but sometimes we never get back to where we should be.
So when something new takes your attention, ask yourself whether you’re going to drop or lose the ball because of it and whether that particular squirrel is really worth going after. 💖
