When you’re thinking about any goal or plan for 2026, don’t just think about how good you’ll feel to achieve it, but also about what comes with it.
For years I wanted a second home in France or Spain, somewhere to regularly get away from the rainier climes of Scotland and spend more time in the sunshine.
But once I was within touching distance of that goal, I thought about all the things that go wrong when you own a house and the responsibility of maintenance when we wouldn’t be there to deal with repairs and upkeep, and I didn’t want that at all.
Plus even without a second home, sunshine can be found at the end of a short European flight to many beautiful destinations and we’re not tied to going to one place!
So, taking breaks without ownership seems like a much better plan for us.
Have you thought about the lifestyle that will be yours if you achieve your current goals? It’s rarely all wine and roses.
