Unless you were away in Timbuctoo or something a few weeks ago, you probably got a lot of emails about membership sites urging you to join Stu McLaren’s Tribe membership.
His free content is so good, his paid membership is probably awesome too.
But I don’t know for sure because Tribe is the best part of two thousand dollars. 😱
When there’s a big thing like that and I’m tempted to buy, I do some research these days, having learned my lesson.
Instead of shelling out when Stu did his big launch last year, I found the Membership Academy which seemed to have everything that the Tribe was promising and more.
It feels like I found a hidden gem there and I’m still a member a year later because they actually do what they say on the tin and sell their training via a monthly membership unlike Tribe.
The Membership Academy is brilliant if you’re thinking of starting a membership site or you already have one (and much of the training applies to online business whatever business model you have so it’s a real winner.)
But that’s not the lesson here.
Contrast that scenario with this.
When I needed help with my business, I impulsively bought a course about finding the perfect VA just because it landed in my inbox at the right time, and I ended up paying well over a thousand dollars instead of doing the research on what training was available.
Later, I came across One VA Away which was $49 and I bought that to review so I could decide whether to recommend it as an alternative or not.
I found it every bit as good as the expensive course (though I’m still glad I got my wonderful VA when I did!)
In any case, it was an expensive lesson right there!
Recently there have been a lot of emails about Ryan Levesque’s course on getting leads from quizzes, so you can guess what I’m on the look out for now. 🤣
When you’re tempted to spend a lot, do your research and see what else is around (start with your hard drive!) Have you found any low cost courses that are just as good as (if not better than) expensive ones? 💖
