I’ve long been in favor of using a brain dumping technique to reduce overwhelm when you need to get on top of things, but I’ve only recently heard about hourly brain dumping from an article by Darshak Rana.
The technique sounds like overkill, but it takes just a few seconds.
At the top of the hour (set a timer if necessary), you pause in your work and check in with yourself.
Is anything bothering you?
Have you forgotten to take care of something?
You then take action to get the thing done or you write the task on your To Do list and go on with your work.
As a result, you go through your day with a clearer head, and you don’t have niggling worries that you’ve forgotten something you didn’t want to forget.
Pro tip: it works just as well for all the things you have to do for family gatherings! 💖
