With all this planning going on for 2022, you might be forgiven for thinking that we can plan our way to success.
I don’t think we can.
Sorry.
Don’t get me wrong. Planning is good. But planning alone won’t get you there.
And you might expect me to say that taking action is what counts —you have to actually implement those plans.
That is true. 😊
But it’s not what shifted things for me this year, although I took more action than you can shake a stick at.
What made the difference for me was actually a moment in 2020—a single moment when I made a decision.
And that was to take my business super seriously.
Before that, I’d always had plans but they weren’t worth the paper they were written on. I made money self-publishing, but as far as online business in 2020 was concerned, I was drifting, playing about with this business model and that, buying a ton of training and PLR and not using it.
I’d been treating my business as “it will happen someday, but I’m not sure how or when.”
In October 2020, I decided that if I was going to get anywhere, I had to stop playing at being in business. I signed up for coaching with Naima and I set about looking for help from a VA . Then I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. It still took me four months to open my shop. But I got it done and never looked back.
Then this year in October (what is it about October?) I decided that I had to take email marketing more seriously and started emailing more regularly.
And that decision has seen my business take off in leaps and bounds too.
So for me what counts is taking a decision to do something and then doing it. It’s like there’s a switch in my head saying “I’m doing this thing”
