There are two ways to spend time on your business.
The first kind is when you sit at your PC, sometimes for hours on end. Your eyes are staring at the screen. Your hands are moving on the keyboard. But you’re not really getting anywhere. Huge swathes of time can disappear into the black hole of the interwebs with this kind of time usage.
The second kind is when you sit down to your PC with a purpose. You have a task to do and you do it. Then you check it off your list and select another task.
The same amount of time will go by. But you’ll feel a lot better by the end of it. You benefit. Your business benefits. It’s all good.
So why do we spend so much time on the first kind?
Don’t ask me! I spend a lot of my time like that too 🤣
But this week I have so much to do before I go away for six days (two consecutive trips (bad planning!)) that I’m giving myself an intervention and playing with a concept I call Power Hours again.
Basically, I decide what I’m going to focus on every hour I’m working. I start at the top of the hour with a task and work on it for an hour, getting it completed if I can, powering through my to do list.
That’s the theory anyway!
