Hi
Some beliefs are useful for a time. They keep us safe.
But they also keep us small.
A belief that once protected you can turn into a limitation. And what started as self-preservation becomes self-restriction, so it may be time to question what’s still true and helpful if you have any beliefs like these:
“I need to play it safe financially.”
This can be a smart belief when money is tight or responsibilities are heavy. Later, it can stop you from investing in yourself, taking calculated risks, or building something new.
“I shouldn’t draw too much attention to myself.”
This one is useful in environments where fitting in keeps the peace. Over time, it can make marketing, self-promotion, or leadership feel uncomfortable or “wrong.”
“I need to be fully prepared before I start.”
This protects you from embarrassment early on. Eventually, it can turn into endless preparation and delayed action.
“It’s better not to expect too much.”
This can soften disappointment during difficult periods. Later, it may dampen ambition and stop you from aiming high.
“I can do this on my own.”
Helpful when support isn’t available. Later, it can prevent you from asking for help, collaborating, or accepting guidance that would make things easier.
These five beliefs sound sensible, responsible, and realistic. They aren’t wrong. They just have an expiry date.
They keep you from stretching, trying, or choosing differently.
The moment you notice one has shifted from protecting you to constraining you, it’s time to update it. 💖
