I’m always telling you to take action.
Sorry about that.
While it’s true that you need to take action to have any chance of succeeding in business (or anything really) I don’t mean that you should be in action mode all the time during your working hours.
And that’s because your best ideas need space to bubble up in your brain.
Give yourself breathing room especially if you have a type A – must get it done – personality
I seem to have missed out on the must get it done gene. 🤔
I’m actually a natural sloth who has to make herself work by building deadlines and accountability into my world.
But I’m not always sorry about that.
I get a lot of ideas by being a sloth.
Some of them are even realistic. 🤣
If being a sloth is not natural for you, build ten minute sloth breaks into your day.
This means ten minutes when you do nothing that takes up your brain power.
You’re not on your phone.
You’re not reading email.
You’re not watching TV.
It’s restful but it’s not the same as a rest.
You’re not even trying to have ideas. Let your brain just be.
Some people will tell you to meditate.
I haven’t found a way to make myself do that yet.
Sitting still is excruciating for me.
If I lie down, I fall asleep.
So I like to go for a walk up into the hills with my dog Alfie or sometimes it’s as simple as taking a break to wash the dishes or fold the laundry. Those things definitely don’t occupy my brain.
