So good to escape for a little while on a two-day trip away. I saw a comedy show and laughed for two hours straight, had dinner and breakfast out and visited an art gallery.

Just like before we were locked up.

But now we have a war in Europe. It just feels like we all live on very shaky ground.

First, it’s the plague. Then, it’s invasion. You really have to enjoy your life while you can! Who knows what any of us has to face in the future?

On a lighter note, outside the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow (a beautiful old building), there’s a statue of the first Duke of Wellington on his horse.  It was erected in 1844.

As long as I’ve been taking trips to the city, the horse has had a traffic cone on his head. I think it started as a drunken student prank. But no sooner do the authorities remove it than the cone reappears. I think they’ve given up trying to remove it now. Google says its “a symbol of Glaswegians’ unique sense of humour and love of a night on the tiles.”

Anyway, I saw a new cone in place today – in the blue and yellow of Ukraine.
