You’ll find people trying to sell you stuff all the time by telling you that you have to do this or that to succeed in business.
Some of it is pretty vital and some of it is just nice to have.
If you can’t work out which is which, you can empty your wallet pretty fast. ☹️
Now, I’m the last one to talk because I’m at the stage in my business of buying a lot of “nice to have” goodies as I look for ways to grow.
And I might tell you about them too because if you’re doing all the basics already then I want to share the good things with you.
But if you haven’t gotten your business up and running yet, then it may be wise to hold off on a lot of purchases even if they sound like must haves.
Instead look at the offers you really need.
If you don’t have enough products (or even your first one), then make your purchases around training for product creation or buy PLR to transform into something unique.
If you don’t have a website or a list of subscribers you’re regularly emailing, that’s also a gap that needs to be filled. Look out for training on those things.
And if you have your products for sale but they aren’t selling, put on your detective hat and work out why so you can focus on help for that – sometimes it’s creating the wrong product ( missing key = niche research or design skills) sometimes it’s lack of visibility of your product (missing key = promotion) sometimes it’s the words you’re using to sell (missing key = copywriting.)
There’s a solution to every problem in business. But if your problem is X and you’re buying products about Y then you might be building up a wonderful library of useful training or products for the future but you’re not using your available budget right now to get closer to your goal.
I’m not saying don’t take advantage of the wonderful deals that are around, just use the budget you have to best advantage. 💖
One way of dealing with too many purchasing decisions is to choose one source to learn as much as you can from.
You can then supplement that with other training once your business is making a profit.
For example, my go-to source for business help is my coach Naima. She offers training in pretty much every aspect of running a successful online business.
But if coaching is not in your budget at the moment, you can learn a whole business model from someone like Suzi Whitford who I talked about yesterday.
Alternatively, you could take all of Cindy Bidar’s training and attend her monthly coaching calls to get your questions answered for one low monthly fee.
There are more examples, of course, many of them wildly expensive, but these three are the people who immediately come to mind when I think of joined up solutions to succeeding in business.
You can learn everything piecemeal but a “one source solution” and a chance to ask questions might save you both time and money and make all the difference to your success. 💖
