When you’re working hard on your business goals, it can seem like a bad thing to stop and take a break.
But not taking one is the fastest way to burn out.
So don’t feel guilty about taking time off (Sunday, Christmas, evenings… whenever) and spending that time any way you like.
If you’ve got a fitness goal as well as a work goal though, you could try active rest.
That’s where you break from technology and do something physical.
Every day, I take a two hour break around noon and eat lunch with hubby who works from home, and then I take my dog Alfie out and walk for an hour. Complete break. No trying to fit in a podcast while I walk, just enjoying the walk in the woods, park or hills.
And often another walk after dinner.
This means that I don’t get as much work done every day as I could. But it feels so good!
Your active rest might be something different. Maybe it’s doing a few strength exercises, a ball game with the kids, or cleaning your house. It could even be meeting friends for coffee. Anything that you’d like to have more time for in your life and you don’t do because you’re “supposed to be working.”
It’s a way to fit in more of the kind of life you want to live without burning out.
What could you do as your active rest in the coming year? It could make a huge difference to your life. 💖
