I have this sweater (jumpers we call them in the UK 😊 ) which I would wear more often if it wasn’t for one thing.
You see the jumper is soft and it fits me perfectly. The neck isn’t too high or too low. It’s cosy without making me too hot.
And it’s gray with animal print hearts (and now you’re saying to yourself omg what is she thinking? While I’m thinking, what’s not to love? LOL)
But anyway, I love the pattern. That’s not the problem.
No the problem is that the designers saw fit to take a perfectly good sweater and put a zipper right up the back from hem to neck. The thing opens but there’s no need. It slips on over my head.
And the point is, they spoiled a perfectly good sweater by adding unnecessary detail. They added to the time it took to make and probably to the cost.
They also made it far less wearable because on icy mornings the last thing I want are the teeth of a cold metal zipper right next to my skin.
Websites can be just like that sweater. We add on all kinds of unnecessary bits that viewers and buyers don’t want at all.
They confuse visitors and make the pages load slower which Google hates. And worse, they stop us going live with a simple website because we think it needs the equivalent of a zipper.
But a simple theme and a basic shopping cart are all you need to create a great website to sell anything, especially in the beginning.
And more to the point, you may never need anything else.
Simple may be perfect just as it is.
If you’re struggling with anything, try to keep simple in mind and produce the most streamlined version you can.
And only ever make it more complicated if the new functionality has a real purpose.
Don’t put a zipper up the back of your website.
And definitely not up the back of your product!

SIMPLE PINNING BUSINESS
If you have yet to find a revenue stream to focus on, take a look at the business model Kristie Childs uses with her pinning system Simply Pin It.
She makes a great income pinning affiliate products using eye-catching pins.
And that’s just about as simple as it gets for an online business!
You can do this before you build the rest of your business if you want a simpler way of getting started.
Have your Pinterest account sending traffic to affiliate links at first.
Then once you have a site and products, you’ll be able to direct traffic to them as well as continuing to to reap the benefits from your affiliate pins.
