I used to think starting a new project was the hard part. But now we can describe an idea to AI and have a plan, an outline, and a promising first draft before the first coffee of the day.

Which is wonderful. And a bit dangerous. 🤣

Because now we can start almost anything, we can easily end up starting everything. Each new idea gets its exciting first hour, while the less exciting work of finishing yesterday’s idea waits in a pile of someday maybes.

So these days, I try to work out whether I want to make room for a thing before I begin it. And if I don't have that room or don't want to drop something to make space, I save the idea for later and don't begin at all.

The excitement of starting stays with the actual start of the project then so that the early momentum helps with the next more difficult part when you're actually doing it. 💖
