No regular newsletter today because of the Queen’s funeral. 

Pretty much everything is closed here in the UK out of respect. Even the things that are normally open when we have a public holiday. 

Every TV show has presenters wearing black (and that has been the case since the Queen’s death over ten days ago.)

I have been watching the funeral all day, doing bits and pieces, and was okay until the hearse and coffin passed the Queen’s horse, Emma, standing quietly by the side of the drive at Windsor Castle.  

Then I cried. 

But anyway, I didn’t want to write my usual newsletter, but I did want to share this quote from Mary Oliver with you that seems appropriate right now.

“What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

I hope, like the Queen, you have a long life and I also hope it’s a precious one.

The Queen acquired her lot in life through birth not choice. She had very little freedom and lived most of her life in the public eye, not able (because that’s not what a queen does) to defend herself if misunderstood, unable to express her opinions on anything that might be seen as political, just quietly getting on with her duties.

In my view, no fine jewels, clothes, titles, or money make up for being restricted like that.

We are all lucky. We have the freedom to make our lives as we want them to be.

That’s huge when you think about it.

So, here’s the question again “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

I’m still thinking about that 💕
